Emergency pet photos and backup access
Your phone may not be available when you need it most. Keeping current pet information and an emergency identification photo in your Pet Ready Planner account gives you another way to access important details from another device.
Why one device is not enough
- A phone can be lost, damaged by fire or water, left behind during an evacuation, or simply unavailable when you need it.
- Important pet information should not exist only on one device.
- Keeping a current pet photo and essential information in an online account lets you sign in from another internet-connected device.
Choosing an emergency identification photo
- Use a clear, recent photo that shows your pet's current appearance.
- Make sure the face, body shape, coloring, and any distinctive markings are visible.
- When possible, keep a photo showing you and your pet together to help support proof of ownership.
- Update photos as pets age or their appearance changes.
How a photo helps during an emergency
- Photos may help with lost-pet notices.
- Photos help you communicate with shelters, veterinarians, rescuers, animal-control personnel, and emergency responders.
What a photo does not replace
- Photos do not replace microchip registration, identification tags, veterinary records, adoption records, purchase records, or other proof of ownership.
- Keep microchip registration and your contact information current.
